l have a 530i and would like to know how l could improve the 0-60 (make it quicker) the car is an E39 petrol, what can l do and what kind of costs? l am in the UK. Any advice would be great apart from the obvious ''buy another car''

Alternatively fit a new ECU to allow you to rev beyond 8000 rpm $300

Between those all l can suggest is NOS about $1400 fully fitted check out this website.

You could hire a tower crane. Acceleration due to gravity is 10m/s2. Might affect ur no claims bonus 'though.

Alternatively borrow a mate is Top Gear mag & take a look in the classified ads at the back - there is usually a few tuning/chipping companies listed & a couple of calls will give u an idea of cost.

For free/cheap improvement remove any unnecessary weight from the boot etc, & never fill the tank above half full using premium unleaded over standard. Also overinflating the tyres reduces the amount of tread on the road & therefore rolling resistance so will shave half a second or so off the 0-60 time, but in view of the wet weather we r having lately & the fact that ur car is rear wheel drive l would not recommend it.

Try an fsp power boost valve starts around £100 . A sports exhaust and air filter . or you could try a super chip and some re mapping there is lots of low cost ways to improve your bhp but to get any real hp you will need to spend a few quid . Have a look on Google for your local tuning center one with a rolling road would be best .

First of do this.

A. bin the spare,jack & tool kit.
B. only quarter fill the washer bottles.
C. Use super unleaded (with octane booster the most expensive one about 20 quid a litre)That will give ur 200 brake motor an extra 15 brake without any tampering with the engine.

Are cars performance is all about power to weight ratio's.
By reducing weight in ur vehicle u will make it a little faster.
Hence the carbon bits on the m3 csl & no aircon etc.

D upgrades to the engine r next.These cost big money
E Fit a perfomance exhaust Eiseman r the best & sound the nuts.500 quid at least
F Fit a race manifold possibly 400 quid
G. a proper super charger 4000 grand fitted & will give 100 brake on top of standard
H A remap & chip change & there u go.

Or like l said to ur weird super fan chager???
Buy an m3 for 3 grand or an evo for 4 grand
One has 286 bhp the other 321 bhp 0-60 in about 5.5 & both 155 top end.
