When i turn on my bmw 318i 1998 the ac turns on automatically...is there a way to stop that

Go to a mechanic.

In 1998, the 3 series changed from the E36 to the E46 model.

If yours is the E46 model, the key can be programmed by ur dealer to do a number of things, including AC turning on when u start the car.

To stop it doing that, the key needs to be re-programmed by BMW (between £30 & £60 depending on the dealer).

If u have the E36, the front panel needs fixing, log on to http://bmwowner.com/forum or http://e36coupe.com/ & u should be able to find someone who can fix it for you.
