l need your advice please. l live outside the usa and l am willing to buy a used BMW 7 series. l have 2 options but l am going crazy coz i'm not able to decide which car to buy! The options are: 2000 BMW 740il dark blue with tan interior, the car is fully loaded. The second option is a 2001 silver BMW 728il 2001 with less features. The 740 is price is less than the 728 by around 10000$, but the 728 is more fuel effecient as it has the straight six cylinders 2,8 liter engine, which means that l will save more money in terms of gas cost in comparison with 740. Buying the 740 means that l will save 10000$ but it will cost me more money in terms of gas. In addition, the 740 is more fun to drive. If u were me, what would u choose? why?

In terms of gas only, l highly doubt that the 728 will provide $10000 worth of fuel savings, unless you plan on driving it for a long time! Think about it, lets say the 728 gets you 25 miles per gallon to the 740 is 20 mpg. A 12000 mile year would use 480 gallons of gas in the 728, and 600 gallons in the 740. At $4 per gallon, that saves you $480 per year. At that pace, it would take 21 years to pay off!

Since l like fancy options in my vehicles, I'd choose the 740.

Go for the 740. Hey, it is YOUR car, you may as well enjoy it. Additionally, the larger engine will probably last longer (less stress). The diff in mpg is offset by your savings, it would take a good long while to use that much gas (compared to the 728).

if u re only concern is fuel efficiency then go for the 728, but u must know that the BMW 7 series is a very robust (heavy as hell) car, so the 2.8 engine will not make the cut for anything else than mum like driving from the house to the supermarket.

On the other hand the 740 not only has a bigger meanner & more adequate engine for that car it also has a zillion more accessories.

so choose more fuel efficiency & less car, less fun, & basically having the cheap version of a very nice car, or go for potent, fun, & full of gadget which is in my mind what BMW is all about

IF l WERE U, l WILL GO FOR THE 728i.
PRESENTLY, THE FUEL PRICE IS GOING UP DAILY.SO IS BEST TO GO FOR 728i.
FEATURES CAN BE ADDED WHEN U HAVE THE MONEY.
