l have BMW x5 3.0 2002

Sometime ABS and Brake and DSC light goes on and it says on DASH SC inactive and then engine goes to failsafe mode and do not accelerate fast. Brakes works fine,just shows yellow light. What coudl that be? By the way,these lights gone by themselves after car stayed in warm place for 2-3 minutes and l can turn on or turn off DSC,but after a while when l drive for 2-3 minutes these lights go on again and freak me out. Please help.

l pulle dup from ABS module following code : 118 (DME status problem) and 908(intermittant system is down).

What is that? Why control lights goes on sometimes? Is is cost a lot ot fix?

Also my headlight washers do not work ,but fuses are good. Also backwindow washer do not work? How much to fix?

l got soem erro codes from system as well : P1632( check engine light goes on becaus eof that l guess,as this code means Throttle valve adaptation condition is not met

You have got more than a mouthful of troubles here, & u have not yet seen a mechanic?
And u even want to have the to ur questions e-mailed to you. This is a forum & not ur private answering service remember?
The headlight washer has its own pump, check power in the connector, if there is power, then replace the pump. If the pump is working & there is still no water spray reaching the headlights, then the valve & hoses to the front r probably clogged up or leaking. Look for leaks beneath the right side of the front bumper when u operate the headlight washers.
You failed to mention the front windshield washer if it works.
If it works, but the rear windshield washer does not, check for clogged hoses in the rear, including the valve.
The myriad of faults in the ABS/DSC/DME needs proper diagnosis by a qualified BMW tech equipped with BMW diagnostic equipment (not OBD2 readers). If l have to make a guess, look in the direction of the oil level sensor & the engine wiring harness, maybe even the software level. This would set back ur pocket quite a bit. Diagnosis alone would cost u no less than 1.5 to 2.5 hours of labor.

l feel for you, l have a 05 that we bought with a ext warrant ytill 100k miles thank goodness but in the last month it has been in the dealer 7 times for the tire light for the brakes & the tire light it sucks & they tell me the same thing its a sensor problem so 5 of the 7 times they have changed the sensors l know dealers r high without the warranty but in order to keep ur car id go in debt & get it fixed who cares about the washers but dont worry sensors r just another way to annoy people in these cars.

anyway, l will put my bids on a wheel speed sensor for your ABS/DSC lights, but without seeing the car and having it on the DIS machine its not a thing to diagnose over .

If you can afford an X5 im sure you can afford to get it looked at by the BMW dealer. Even if its just for dianosis time.

The first thing l would do is inspect the battery & wither have it tested or see when it was replaced last. A weak battery can cause these types of problems. If u r on ur original battery, u should replace it immediately. If u r unsure & ur battery is a BMW battery, check the top of the negative terminal for the production date. It will be in a weeks/years format.

Otherwise, u most likely will need to replace ur EML (Drive-by-wire system). If there r any faults in the EML system, it will immediately shut down the entire DSC system & go into failsafe mode to prevent any unplanned movements of the car. It could be as simple as a bad accelerator pedal, or a bad electronic throttle body, or even a wiring problem between any of the control units.

As far as the headlight washers & rear window washer, u most likely need to replace the motors. Since these functions r used the least, the motors can sometimes freeze up over time. You should check them with a voltmeter while having an assistant activate the washers. If u r not receiving power, u probably have an electrical problem. This could range from the switch itself, to wiring, to the General Module, to the washer relays under the passenger side dashboard.
