l am sure you're pushing the clutch all the way in, right? your service light should be on, and the car should be in fail-safe mode. motor problems with these cars are about impossible to work on if you're not a dealer with a fat computer. the problem could be crappy gas, clogged injectors, $200) an overdue valve adjustment ($1000), or a bad accesory pulley. ($2-300).

Something to do with the fuel system...Most common problem is a bad MAF sensor. Cost on an M3 is probaly a couple of hundred.im sure the part is the biggest expense.

you could simply have a vacuum leak and when you use the power brakes it takes too much vacuum and causes the engine to stall. try starting the car the pumping the brakes quickly and to the floor. if the car dies it is a vaccum issue if not then it is probably a bad idle contro sensor.

l can throw in my guess just like the others. It is something related to the fuel delivery system, most probably the idle air control valve. Or a vacuum/air leak. But definitely not an airflow meter problem (although it could set a fault for the actual problem).
But l hate guessing, for if u r a mechanic & u start guessing, u better be a very lucky guesser, otherwise ur family will starve.
Have it scanned for free in any of the parts stores that do it as a service. Then update ur question.

After reading this, now l wonder because l have even gone to the dealer about the uneven acceleration. He said there was no problem & attributed it to me moving to a higher altitude & losing quite a bit of horsepower, & not being used to it yet. l moved from 800 ft to 6000 ft & lost about 50 horsepower. Oh well.
