l know they will check everything when the do the oil change.

Is it worth taking the car to the dealer?

Not in the least. The dealer is the LAST place you want to go. Its just an oil change. Most all oil change places know that to do and have the tools to do it. At the dealership you do not get any better of a job done.

Go to a BMW specialist, they will charge less and do a better job (BMW tech is are only given the minimum amount of time to complete the service, not long enough to do a thorough check).

My dealer charges £120, specialist charges about half that and uses the same oil and the same filter that the dealer uses.

Let us put it this way.

If u could only afford a 1996 318, then chances r u CANNOT afford to go to a Beemer main dealer.

And do not assume they will check everything!!!!!

Let me explain

Main dealers charge anywhere between 80 & 180 GBP per hour.
A full service takes approx 4 hours!!! plus parts!!!
They will knock u for at least a grand

For just an oil change they will want half hour labour plus 50 quid for oil & filter.

ANY legal, decent & honest local garage will do oil & filter for £20/£30 & give it a good checkover for the price of an MOT

Does not matter who does it just make sure it is the oil that you want to use. ie synthetic.
