It stopped completely and l had it towed it. The dealer said that it was ''out of gas'' despite having 1/4 tank of gas. The service mgr said this is common b/c this model has a saddle shaped gas tank and the gas gets stuck on the other side of the hump. I've had this car for several years and have driven it down to practically empty almost every time. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it really that common?

It sounds as if the dealer was right. That the gas is getting trapped on one side or the other. With the fuel pick-up tube on one side, and the gauge float on the other you are getting a flase reading. So yes, you are running out of gas.

Perhaps u r right that there was still 1/4 tank of gas stuck on the left side of the tank which the siphon mechanism did not bring to the pump side which is the right side.
But chances r that there was no gas on both left or right sides of the tanks. And that ur car has a faulty fuel level sensor, at the right side
which is where the pump is.
How many gallons were u able to fill it up with after it was towed?
This would answer whether u have a faulty siphon system or a faulty
fuel level sensor. If it is less than the usual full tank, then it is the siphon that is bad. If it is the usual full tank volume then it is the fuel level sensor.
