People have criticized it for having too many menus and confusing navigation. I've never used it, but I'd rather just have a lot of buttons on my dashboard and not have to put up with an irritating set of menus every time l try to change the radio station. A revised version of iDrive debuts in the new 7 Series and is supposed to be more user-friendly.we will see.

besides being confusing for many folks, the more glaring reason is that bmw tried to put an idiot-proof driving aid into a car which is mostly bought by people who pride themselves on being good enough drivers already.

People who say they hate it also hate change itself!

It is different and l will also admit, when it first came out on the 2002 7 series, it was challenging but once you got the hang of it it is very cool.

The updated idrive that is out now is much less complex, but still take a bit to get used to. Once you've got it down, you can operate it without taking your eyes off the road.

They hate it because it is different & new.

The same people hate:
1) Microwaves (what is wrong with a log fuel stove)
2) E-mail (what is wrong with a letter)
3) Cell Phone is (we managed without them)
4) The Internet (the Library was good enough)
5) Planes (if we were meant to fly, God would have given us wings)
6) Computers (when l was young, we did not even have calculators)
7) The wheel (what was wrong with walking?)
8) The iPod (surely a Sony Walkman cassette player is all u need?)

l use iDrive every day - it is so easy & u do not have lots of buttons to worry about.

People who do not like change r very sad, they tell everyone else that change is bad so that they r not left out when other people listen to them & avoid advancing into the 21st century.
