ok so my car after a few minutes driving, the temp gage goes into the red, and the cars heater is blowing out cold air, engine is hot but not steaming hot so dont think its the head gasket blown, could it be the thermostat, thanks

Your thermostat is stuck closed or you're low on coolant.

hi mate have you topped water up they can be bugger if air gets in they suffer water pumps as impeller falls off but try bleeding system 1st you need a flat blade screwdriver and take bleed screw out until water comes out on top of rad ok if not cheapest option is get water pump checked by good garage like mine ok lol

the above to guys are both right, if you have changed the coolant or put in more than a ltr or 2, topped it up or had the water pump changed recently, go with the coolant bleed off because it pretty sure to be the prob, if you hav not touched the coolant recently go with the thermostat
